Our loire wine Tours

Tired of the traditional and impersonal wine tours during which a guide drives you from winery to winery, where you don't get to meet the winemaker and where an employee will have you taste wines you won't even remember? If so, our unique wine tours and wine tastings are made for you! Get off the beaten path and live a genuine, unique and unforgettable experience by spending a few hours with us at our family winery, in the Loire Valley vineyard, to discover the winemaker's work throughout the year and to learn about vine-growing, wine-making and wine tasting.

Our wine tours are intimate and 'slow' tours: in small groups, we take our time and enjoy the beautiful vineyard landscapes, as well as the peace and tranquility of living in the Loire Valley. As a former English teacher, I speak fluent English. The tours are given either in English or in French, but I never mix the two languages, to make it more confortable for visitors.

The local products we serve during our wine tastings

Here is a glimpse at the local delicacies we serve during our wine tastings:

- Loire fish rillettes produced by Nicolas Hérault, a professional fisherman based near Chinon. We serve these rillettes as appetizers with Loire sparkling wines. The opportunity to try local fish such as mulet and 'silure' - a type of big catfish whose name you can't translate into English - cooked with local products like safran or Sauvignon Blanc wine. If you like these rillettes, you'll be able to buy some after the wine tasting, as we sell them at the winery.

- charcuteries from Touraine: rillons and rillettes de Tours are of course a must-try! These two dishes come from the Déré charcuterie in Nazelles-Négron, near Amboise. We also serve various terrines that come either from this same charcuterie, or from Maison Cayet in Vernou-sur-Brenne, or from the Narcisse Deniau charcuterie, which you will find at the Vouvray market on Friday mornings.

- Loire Valley cheeses : the Loire Valley is famous for goat cheese, more than cow's cheese. There are dozens of different types, depending on the farms they come from. Five  goat cheeses are classified as AOC (something you will learn about during our wine tours, in case you are not familiar with that system): Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine, Selles-sur-Cher, Valençay, Pouligny-Saint-Pierre and Crottin de Chavignolles. We also include local cow's cheeses (Galet de La Loire, Petit Trôo...) to satisfy everybody's taste buds! You'll be able to buy those cheeses at Ô panier gourmand, a grocery store located in Vernou-sur-Brenne, or at La Petite Épicerie in Chançay.
- fresh goat cheese spreads from "So Chèvre" sometimes complement our wine tastings. You can purchase them at the winery shop after your visit.

- nougat de Tours : in Tours, what people call nougat is a cake - unlike in the south east of France where nougat is a candy made with honey and dried almonds - made with a layer of candied fruit rolled in apricot jam and macaronade - a mix of beaten egg white, powdered almond and sugar - on top. A light and fruity cake to enjoy with a sparkling rosé wine or a sweet white wine! You'd like to bring some home? Go to the Rivero bakery in Vouvray, that's where we buy nouget de Tours. It is a travel cake which does not need to be refrigerated and can be kept for two to three weeks.
