During winter 2021, I tested an Italian recipe that I really like and whose ingredients include wine: a risotto with red wine and red radicchio. A very simple recipe to make for a dish with balanced flavors, which will especially delight people who appreciate a little bitterness in their food. I cooked this risotto with a wine from La Valpolicella, in north-east Italy. This article is also the opportunity to talk about wine tourism and discover the exceptional wines produced in that area.
Did you know that certain days of the year honor grape varieties or types of wine? Riesling is thus celebrated on March 13th, Malbec on April 17th ... The 3rd Thursday of November is synonymous with the release of Beaujolais Nouveau and the 4th Friday ofJune is World Rosé Day (just at the beginning of summer, it couldn't have been better!) A good way to enhance these grape varieties and styles of wine, and to make the countries or regions that produce them better known.
The end of year is near, and the cool temperatures of winter are setting in. What better way to comfort ourselves than with the sweet flavors of gingerbread? I tested a recipe by French chef Julie Andrieu and was very happy with the result: the gingerbread was not too sweet and each of the spices used in the recipe can be identified when tasting the gingerbread, which is very soft, due to some sweet wine used to soak the cake after baking it. Here is the full recipe. Enjoy!!
During lockdown, a lot of people keep themselves busy in the kitchen. Me first! It is such a pleasure to have the time to cook, to leaf through cookbooks and to list the ingredients I need, but also to compose with the food I have in my fridge and cupboards! Here is a recipe for almond and red fruit cake. A very simple recipe, which includes a little white wine, for a delicious cake. A nice surprise when it comes to tasting it!
